What did Dr. Simeons consider to be a serving of meat and how should it be prepared?
Per Dr. Simeons , “The Diet” – … “100 grams of veal, beef, chicken breast, fresh white fish, lobster, crab, or shrimp. All visible fat must be carefully removed before cooking, and the meat must be weighed raw. It must be boiled or grilled without additional fat.”

Are there any guidelines an HCG dieter should follow with regard to choosing what meats to eat each day while on the Protocol?
An HCG dieter should vary his protein selections to get a variety of vitamins and nutrients.  In addition, ground beef in particular, should only be eaten 2-3 times a week since American beef is fattier than the beef to which Dr. Simeons referred. (Here in Mexico it is a bit leaner) Bonus!

Are meat (beef, chicken, etc.) products packaged in single serving packages? (There is a page on this website for prepared HCG meals) Yes.  Each package of protein contains  100g servings of pre-cooked protein, with all visible fat removed and cooked without additional fat.  Each AjijicHCG meal is 100 grams of pre-cooked protein and one serving of vegetable, with allowed sauces, spices and flavor, pre-cooked with no additional fat.

Since Lauri is gone on her around the world cruise, does anyone know where I can buy the white noodles, the free food that people like. And what is it? If it is a free food it can’t be pasta.

    • They are 10 calorie ‘noodles’, often called Shirataki noodles, originally from a Japanese yam, now grown in the states. You used to be able to get them sent to Ajijic from a Japanese restaurant wholesaler in Guadalajara.
They are great to stretch your calories and very filling. They have no taste but can be a bit chewy, so they’re best simmered in sauce, like tomato sauce or chili.

To Anonymous that answered me about the noodles, where do I buy them now. Are they called Miracle Noodles? Thank you for answering.

        • Hi Beverley, it’s Dionne here. I guess I’m still on the website. Yes they’re called Miracle noodles as well. The Asian restaurant wholesale suppliers in Guadalajara used to carry them and special order them. They even delivered to Ajijic. Some tips. Be sure to refrigerate them. Never freeze them as it ruins them. Order the thinnest variety like spaghetti noodle size rather than fettuccine size for instance, as the thicker ones rather chewy.

I don’t know when you get to P2 and P3. How do we know that we are there? Is it after the first 23 day or 40 day cycle? Then you go to P2? I am a little confused. I really enjoyed reading the entire website just to learn.

      Hi Doug,
Good question, I am pretty sure it’s not, but will look into it. If you find anything on the internet, please let us know. The entire list of foods are on the second tab of this website (1 HCG Protocol) and on the tab Simions Book. Hope this helps!

  7. I will be starting the diet plan in two weeks following some knee surgery. I will be purchasing Laurie’s meals, but would like to get any other needed items now. Please tell me what I need to get, where to buy it, and what brand is best for things such as vinegar, amino acids, bread sticks and any other items I might need.

Also can you give some guidance on how and when to take the vinegar and if artificial sweeteners are permitted other than stevia.

    Thank you for your assistance.

  8. Steak Day On HCG Diet

After 23 days of taking the daily HCG, dieters move into phase 3 or maintenance phase of the HCG diet. In the following three weeks, dieters are instructed to weigh themselves every morning to ensure they are not gaining more than two pounds over the weight reached on the day of their last HCG injection. It is important for dieters to weigh themselves in the morning rather than during the day, as there may be wide fluctuations which might lead to unnecessary worries and confusions. If a dieter gains more than two pounds over their last dose day weight, they should immediately take certain weight correction procedure on the same day in order to lose the extra pounds. “Steak Day” is an effective technique used by Dr. Simeons to correct weight gains in the HCG diet Phase 3/Maintenance. Basically you eat nothing until dinner, when you can eat a large steak cooked in oil or butter with an apple or a raw tomato. You should also drink plenty of water that day. The next day, you should see your weight drop.

According to Dr. Simeons, dieters “must on that same day entirely skip breakfast and lunch but take plenty to liquid. In the evening they must eat a large steak with only an apple or a raw tomato.” Dr. Simeons also stated in his “Pounds and Inches” that “it is of utmost importance that this is done on the same day that you were up two pounds. If you do a Steak day immediately on the same day when you find a weight gain over the two pound limit. In other words, the steak day only works, the same day you weigh and your weight is up 2 pounds or more. If the Steak Day is missed or postponed to the next day, you will need to follow several days of strict dieting in order to correct the situation.
    What Is Steak Day ?

During the steak day, the dieter has to fast for the day, until an early dinner. You will need to skip breakfast and lunch, but drink plenty of liquid. For dinner, usually a bit earlier, the dieter eats a large steak with an apple or a raw tomato. The dieter is advised to drink plenty of water and other fluids during the day.
    Vegetarian Alternative To Steak Day

People who don’t eat meat have some alternative options for the ‘Steak Day’. The vegetarians can go for non-flavored pea protein powder burgers-with quinoa, and something to bind it. You can make soup of it with tomato. Google or search the internet for “HCG diet, Steak day, alternatives” for other ideas.

  9. What is an Apple Day???
    The Simeoms protocol also includes an apple day to break a plateau;
“An apple-day begins at lunch and continues until just before lunch of the following day. 12:00 to 12:00, a 24 hour period. The patients are given six large apples and are told to eat one whenever they feel the desire though six apples is the maximum allowed. During an apple-day no other food or liquids except plain water are allowed and of water they may only drink just enough to quench an uncomfortable thirst if eating an apple still leaves them thirsty. Most patients feel no need for water and are quite happy with their six apples. Needless to say, an apple-day may never be given on the day on which there is no injection. The apple-day produces a gratifying loss of weight on the following day, chiefly due to the elimination of water. This water is not regained when the patients resume their normal 500-Calorie diet at lunch, and on the following days they continue to lose weight satisfactorily.”
Dr. Simeons stated the “Apple Day” technique is used primarily for psychological reasons, because the weight loss after an Apple Day is primarily from water loss. A plateau will be corrected on its own sooner or later without using the “Apple Day.” However, since many dieters get used to seeing an average of daily weight loss, they tend to get worried when reaching a plateau. That’s why Dr. Simeons introduced “Apple Day” to his patients to break the stall.

  10. Wow, just ate Lauri’s Thai Beef & Onion Soup for lunch — absolutely delicious, filling and I didn’t have to make it!!! Thanks Lauri for all you do for the group!!
